Crazy Train

My Week # 7 Submission

I was a teen in the nineties — MTV had just started doing the Real World, and shows like, The Osbournes. Frankly, my first impression of Ozzy wasn’t that great — I just saw him as a shot-out old man. He reminded me a lot of another old druggie I knew — only Math was more infamous than he was famous for sure.

And this’ll probably be a shocker, but I haven’t ever really been a fan of Ozzy’s music. I always considered his voice a little whiny.🫢 Sunday was the first time I have ever listened to the words of Crazy Train. I’d only ever heard it at sporting events before now, and I was surprised by the lyrics in the opening verse.

Crazy, but that’s how is goes

Millions of people living as foes

Maybe it’s not too late

To learn how to love and forget how to hate

Wow Ozzy, that’s beautiful! And although the song goes in another direction from there, “To learn how to love and forget how to hate,” is something I can get behind. That’s something you can hang your hat on right there!

But I get it — it’s easy to get caught up in all the noise, then before you know it you’ve gotten pushed aboard the Crazy Train. Everything seems to be out of control, and you feel like you’re going off the rails!

The news is horrible — people can’t seem to agree on anything. Fighting, Poverty, and War are everywhere.

🛑FULL STOP🛑

“Maybe it’s not too late,” that is, if we can just remember to reach up and pull the brake.

I think we sometimes forget that we don’t have to stay aboard the Crazy Train — we always have the option of getting off at the next station.

We can choose, “To learn how to love and forget how to hate,” by our actions and responses towards others today, and each day forward.

Each time someone or some situation is screaming, “All Aboard The Crazy Train!”

Just hit the Pause Button. And instead of boarding the Crazy Train with the crowd, respond with loving compassion. Be the light that shines through the darkness —shine your light of love so that others may also see the way.

Soon enough, the platform will be full of others who are not only standing in your light, but shining their own also! And on and on and on, until one day the platform is full, and the Crazy Train is empty, and free to run off the rails on its own.

Spread the word, ours is not a one-way ticket. We can step off the Crazy Train whenever we decide to.
