Maci's Blue Flower
My Week #38 Submission
Maci watched as Jim’s tail lights faded in the distance.
“Good riddens,” she lied aloud to herself.
She clutched her belly, gave a long sigh and said, “Alexa, play Blue Flower, by Mazzy Star.”
And as the song began to play she ran over the past year in her head…
What had begun as a fairytale had taken a tumultuous turn in the past few weeks. Maci had been expecting a proposal to come at any time. But when she’d hinted at the idea of a future together, Jim had scoffed. Then changed the subject. And from that moment on, he’d acted differently. He’d even ghosted her a couple times — no show, no call, wouldn’t answer her texts until the next morning.
Then she’d seen something on his phone that floored her.
As it turned out, he wasn’t the saint she’d thought he was. And when she’d confronted him about it, he’d just laughed it off.
He’d said, “What’s the big deal? We’re not married you know?”
So the rollercoaster romance had ended with an ultimatum.
Waitin’ for a sign from you Waitn’ for a signal to change Have you forgotten what your love can do Is this the end?
She had no more tears left to cry, but it wasn’t all in vain. Maci had a secret. And the wanna be superstar was clueless.
“I never really wanted your heart!” she sang along aloud. We don’t need him anyway do we? Maci thought, as she danced around the kitchen with her arms wrapped around herself.
I’ll never let you down my little Blue Flower. “My, Mazzy,” she smiled.
I hope you enjoyed my little work of fiction. It was inspired by this week’s song writing prompt, Blue Flower, by Mazzy Star.

MJ, hello. Reading about Jim’s shallowness and the way he only cared about what was convenient for him seriously pissed me off, but because of that, I felt relieved seeing Maci slowly start finding herself again in the end.
