Right there with you on your feelings about that school in Tuscaloosa, but Georgia, that's another story. I will not say more or my mother-in-law will do horrible things to me. Would love to hear about your Sugar Bowl escapades in a future story.
Haha, that one might be a little much for my Substack audience. π€it would make a great addition to my pen name's pub list...maybe you'll get an email one dayπ Happy Writing Marty!π€ π€
You know Meredith, I actually felt as though I'd lost some of the passion I had for my team recently. I just tend to pay more attention to the things I can and cannot control now than I did in the past. Writing this now the phrase, "flying blind," come to mind. And I certainly am not doing that any longer. But after this first week of football, I now realize that I haven't lost my passion, just maybe the fanaticism. No, I'm not screaming at the tv anymore, I'd just as soon sit there and watch it quietly holding my sleeping grandson now. No I don't self identify with every win or loss, the outcome has very little effect on me these days. But if anything my true passion may be more intense, as today I'm able to see the camaraderie this brings my friends and family in the moment. The memories I made during that phase of my life are sweet when viewed in this light, and I'm already grateful for the ones still to come. I'm glad you found and enjoyed this post. Happy Writing my friend!π€ π€
